Food allergies
Allergen information
Last updated: 25 October 2026
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, please tell the restaurant before you order – write it in the allergy box and, if it is serious, call them. The phone number is on every order page.
Where to find allergen information
Each restaurant lists the allergens in its dishes on its menu, next to the dish. Ask the restaurant if a dish shows no allergen information. Recipes and suppliers can change, so check every time.
The 14 major allergens
UK law requires restaurants to tell you if a dish contains any of these:
- Celery
- Cereals containing gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats)
- Crustaceans
- Eggs
- Fish
- Lupin
- Milk
- Molluscs
- Mustard
- Tree nuts
- Peanuts
- Sesame
- Soya
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites
Cross-contamination
Takeaway kitchens handle many ingredients in a small space, often with shared fryers and grills. Even when a dish does not contain an allergen, the restaurant may not be able to guarantee that it is free from traces. If you are unsure, ask before ordering.
When your order arrives
Allergen information must also be available when your food is handed over. If you are not sure which item is which, ask the driver or call the restaurant before eating.
